Congratulations! You have been selected to perform at Sounds Of Sevcon ’24 on Friday 13 Dec following your audition! We look forward to a fantastic show! Please see some important Performer Terms and Conditions and a Photo/Video Release Form below.
If you are in the choir only (and no other performance), please scroll down and read from, ‘Choir Information’, onwards. You will still be required to complete the form below.
Terms and Conditions
The Sounds of Sevcon (SOS) Showcase & Awards Night is the biggest event on the school’s calendar. As such we need to prepare and ensure that all performers and their performances are of an exceptionally high standard. SOS ’24 will be held at Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL Auditorium on Friday 13 Dec, 2023.
To facilitate a smooth, professional and flawless show and to ensure that everyone has enough time to prepare for their performance, the following Rules and Guidelines apply to; A) the lead up and preparation of the item/performance including Dress Rehearsal/s and B) the performance night.
Finalising Song Choices:
Song choices for the showcase must made in collaboration with your Sevcon teachers.
Time limits per performance apply. Speak with your teacher to ensure you meet the song length criteria for your performance category.
To ensure ample event and performance preparation time for both staff and students, all song choices for all performers must be finalised no later than Monday Nov 11, 2024. Song choices cannot be changed after this date.
Dress Rehearsal - Sunday Dec 1 at Sevcon
The dress rehearsal will be held on Sunday 1 December 2024 at Sevcon for all acts unless otherwise discussed.
Each performer/group will be allocated a 10 minute timeslot on the scheduled dress rehearsal date. Please contact/visit reception to book and confirm your dress rehearsal time slot. Groups/duos will need to work together to find a suitable time for all with the assistance of Sevcon teachers and reception.
All performers, accompanists and backup dancers are to attend the dress rehearsal wearing the attire they intend to wear on stage at SOS ‘24.
All props and instruments intended for use in the performance on the night must be present at the dress rehearsal.
Attire, outfits, props and instruments must meet the school’s expectations and a “common sense” approach.
At the discretion of the school, some performers may be asked to attend a second dress rehearsal date.
Showcase Day – Sound Check, Dec 13 at Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL Auditorium:
Sound checks will commence at 1pm for acts with live accompaniment and 2pm for acts using backing track only.
All performers are strongly advised to attend sound check for an optimal performance. Sound checks will however be subject to the venue’s logistical schedule on the day.
Attire, outfits, props and instruments must be the same as those presented at the Dress Rehearsal and must meet the school’s expectations and a “common sense” approach.
All instruments must be made available for assessment by staff and sound technicians at the sound check.
Students under 18 must be accompanied into and out of the auditorium by an adult. Parents are not permitted to drop students off outside the venue. Parents of younger children are encouraged to stay with their child at all times throughout the day.
Final permission to perform on the night will be at the school’s discretion.
Showcase Performance:
The list of performances as printed and presented on the day is final. Any changes to the list of performers will be at the school’s discretion only.
All performers must gather in the dressing room 3 ACTS ahead of their performance.
We will have an MC introducing all acts. We ask that there is strictly no on-stage introduction/dialogue.
There will strictly be no swearing, profanity, or inappropriate gestures made by performers during the performances and/or during any subsequent stage appearances throughout the night.
Repeats or re-starting of performances is entirely at the discretion of the school and the SOS sound/media technicians, not the performer. In any case, performers must continue and complete their performance with professionalism.
At the conclusion of each performance, a simple “Thank you” and/or nod/bow to the audience is encouraged.
Choir Information:
All students are welcome and encouraged to join the SOS24 choir. If you have already signed up for the choir or would like to participate, please see the information below:
The SOS24 choir rehearsals will be held at Penshurst RSL. The rehearsal dates are:
Saturday 16 November - 4 – 6 pm
Saturday 23 November - 4 – 6 pm
Saturday 30 November - 4 – 6 pm
Saturday 7 December - 4 – 6 pm
If you are unavailable for 2 or more rehearsals, please let your teacher know.
The choir will be performing 2 items; the first and last items of the Showcase. The instrumentals and lyrics for each choir item will be uploaded to YouTube prior to the showcase for students to practice with at home.
It is important that the rehearsals run smoothly in order for the choir to learn their parts sufficiently. Students are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes early for rehearsal where possible and conduct themselves in a polite and attentive manner.
Penshurst RSL is a licensed venue, as such, any students under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult when arriving and departing from the rehearsal room. Parents are permitted to leave the premises once students are inside the rehearsal room and in the care of Sevcon staff. Parents are not permitted to drop off their children outside the venue.
Performance attire will be discussed in one of the later rehearsals.
Choir Sound Check on Dec 13, Showcase Day:
The choir’s sound check has been scheduled for 4 pm at Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL (CHPRSL) on the performance day being 13 December 2024.
All choir students are required to attend sound check at CHPRSL at 4pm. Note: If students are in other performances also (aside from choir), they are required to attend earlier than 4pm for their allocated sound check (1pm for instrumentalists or 2pm for those singing to backing tracks).
Students must wear or bring with them their appropriate performance attire as agreed upon at the choir’s dress rehearsal. All choir performers must ensure they are dressed well before the choir performances are scheduled to begin.
Final permission to perform will be at the school’s discretion.
The choir will gather backstage at 6.15pm on the performance night for the opening act. The choir will gather backstage again for the finale performance, immediately after the final soloist from the originals section has completed their act.
Sounds Of Sevcon 2024 Tickets
Tickets for the SOS Showcase will be made available by 1 November. Tickets will be discounted at an early bird rate during November only. From December 1, tickets will be sold at full price. Tickets can be purchased here: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1312333
Each student is required to purchase a student ticket for the showcase.
Reserved tables will be allocated for groups of 10 or more guests per performer. At the venue, reserved tables will be marked with the performer’s surname.
Tickets are non-refundable except in the case that SOS24 is canceled by Sevcon.
Photo/Video release for all performers including Choir:
The SOS24 showcase will be professionally photographed and filmed. Photo and Video Sets will be available for optional purchase in 2025.
I permit Sevcon Music Pty Ltd and its affiliates to use the video/photograph(s)and/or drawings taken of me at the SOS 2024 End of Year Showcase & Awards Night and any other reproductions or adaptations there from either complete or in part alone or in conjunction with any wording and/or drawings for the strict uses of publicity and/or merchandising and/or editorial purposes only, in any country and territory.
No changes to the terms of this release are accepted unless agreed in writing by the Sevcon Music Pty Ltd, its assignees or licensees.
I understand that I do not have any interest in the copyright to the video/photograph(s) nor shall I receive any payment.
I am over 18 years old. (Performers who are under 18 years of age must provide evidence of consent by a parent or guardian to this Photo/Video release).
