Singing Lessons

Our classes are designed to create an optimal learning environment for all of our students. Our method and approach centres around teaching the fundamentals of technique and vocal health whilst placing a large emphasis on learning to perform with confidence, emotion, expression and dynamics. Our experience teaches us that many students thrive in a group setting. Being part of a group class can help to develop confidence, experience and camaraderie. After the initial one on one lessons, students are encouraged to join a group class. Age, ability and experience are all considered in the formation of each class to ensure that all students have the best chance to learn and develop. Minimum age for student enrolment is 7 years old.

Our Singing Classes in Sydney are Customised to Fit Your Needs.

We are able to Provide Voice Training in a Fun and Relaxed Environment.

Stagecraft & Performance Classes

These one on one classes with our stagecraft expert Carmen Smith, are all about perfecting the art of performance. These classes are available to any student who wishes to develop their stage presence and performance skills or even add choreography or dance to their vocal performances. Stagecraft classes can also be helpful to musical theatre performers who need assistance with character performances or auditions. Carmen has peformed with Guy Sebastian, Stan Walker, Jessica Mauboy, DIesel and others. She also featured in popular musical production, The Wiz and TV show, The Voice. She is one of Australia's most seasoned performers and she is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others.

An auxiliary line of learning is offered through our Songwriting stream. These one on one classes are offered to all singing students who wish to explore the art of songwriting. Students will work closely with our in house professional songwriter and producer, Tauese Tofa, who will guide the student from brainstorming concepts to putting ideas together and producing a finished product.

Tauese, or “T” as he’s affectionately known is an experienced songwriter who has penned songs for both local and international acts including Indie artist, Vera Black, Grammy Award winning band, Casting Crowns, local talent Fatai V  and Tui Award winning band, The Parachute Band. He has his finger on the pulse of music trends and will be a great asset to your songwriting journey.  We also offer both on site and off site recording opportunities.

Students, and from time to time the general public, will have the opportunity to learn a variety of skills offered through our workshop program. Recent 'one off' workshops have included:

  • Songwriting Fundamentals
  • Blues/Gospel Vocal Harmonies
  • Vocal Master Class
  • Audio and Music Production Fundamentals
  • The Art of Performance & Stagecraft

We are committed to providing opportunities for our students to practise what they learn in the classroom. Throughout the year the school holds multiple events to give students a chance to shine.

Regular events include:

Sunday Performance Afternoons

Our Sunday performance afternoons are the cornerstone of our performance program. Performance afternoons are held on a monthly basis. As students progress they are encouraged to perform, although performance is not mandatory. These performance afternoons are hugely popular events. We hold two concerts at each performance afternoon to help accommodate for our busy lives and the event is held in family friendly locations so that you can bring your supportive crowd!

Sevcon End of Year Showcase & Awards Night

This is the biggest event on the school calendar and the grand finale for our school year. This stellar event allows students who have passed auditions for the event, to perform in front a large audience including industry representatives.

Past industry guests and presenters include:

  • Leichhardt Italian Festival
  • Cronulla Spring Fair

Live Originals Nights

Started in 2013, these events are considered mini gigs for our original artists and singer/songwriters wishing to perform their own music with live musicians in an intimate, candle lit setting with a great sound and great atmosphere in Sydney's inner city.

A simple and effective recording space within our Sevcon building allows students to record original or cover music at a reasonable price. This space is operated by our in house producer Tauese Tofa and is utilised by many Sevcon students as well as the wider public. For recording projects which require a larger facility or different resources, Tauese is able to arrange session time at other well known recording studios from where he often works, such as Studios 301, Trackdown Studios and others. Tauese can offer artists excellent guidance throughout the entire process of recording and of course assist artists in understanding the various options available to them. Tauese also works together with some of Australia's best mixing and mastering engineers to ensure that those wishing to go the full way in finishing with a polished, radio quality recording are able to walk away with an exceptional product.
